Rio day 2....

We woke to rain! Damn it!

We took our time eating breakfast and it cleared a little so we took a walk over to the lagoon, you can see Christ the Redeemer from there, however he was bathed in clouds.

It started to rain again so after a bit of debate we decided to head to the Sainta Theresa area on the metro hoping it would clear by the time we got there.

It was still drizzling upon arrival however by the time we walked to the main sights it had stopped! Still super cloudy and a real muggy damp feeling!

We saw the tiled steps, covered in tourists of course and took some pics before heading up a super steep hill to the main area. There is a team but we decided to walk and catch the team back.

We were going to have lunch and a beer but ended up just taking pics as by now it was close to 3pm and we figured we may as well wait until dinner, making the most of photo opportunities whilst it wasn't raining!

We walked back to the tram stop and caught the tram. It's an old style tram and quite fun!

The area was very grungy, lots of graffiti and murals.

After making our way back in the tram and seeing police arresting a guy in the main square we decided to head back to the safety of Ipanema!

The metro was really easy and efficient, super clean and very safe feeling!

After getting back we freshened up, well I did, but when Pete went to have a shower the hot water service had broken!!!

We contacted our airbnb guy who arranged for a plumber to fix it asap! Thankfully it was done in prompt timing and we headed for dinner.

We enjoyed a nice dinner in a restaurant that served all sorts of dishes, I chose gnocchi with shredded beef and Pete had a nice risotto.

Another big day, hoping it's not raining tomorrow as we want to go to Christ the redeemer in the sunshine!! Wish us luck!!!
