Another early morning for us with the bus leaving for Tilcara at 7:15am. Our hotel was about 2km from the station, we decided to walk if it was not raining, it was a fine morning, so off we went.
The walk took us about 25mins and we got to the station with time to spare, grabbed a bite to eat and waited for the bus, which thankfully arrived with time to spare.
We had a lot of rain on the way up to Tilcara, the road was even a little flooded in spots, but all in all it was a good trip af. We arrived in time at 11am.
Our hotel was less than 1km from the station, so again, we took a walk and found our way to the hotel. As we could not check in yet, we left our bags and headed off to see some sights.
We took a walk to the Pucara, Tilcara, a reconstructed ancient settlement which provided a decent explanation of the history of the area. It also provided awesome views of the colourful hills, such a beautiful spot!!!
After visiting this interesting sight we headed back to the hotel and checked in.
After a shower, feeling fresh again, we decided to head for a beer! We ran into our Pommy friend Pat!! He arrived the day before so gave us the heads up on a few things about the town and hotel.
After beers it was time for dinner, we visited a small local restaurant, which was very lovely, we both Locro, a local casserole, it was superb!!!
After dinner we headed back to the hotel for a cup of tea!
We have 4 nights in Tilcara all up, at this stage there is lots to do, so should prove to be a fun few days!!
