Our plan for Paraty is pretty much just to chill out and relax, there are plenty of activities to do but given we've got Rio coming up we just wanted to relax before a busy few days.
We had a leisurely breakfast, which was one of the best breakfasts so far, loads if nice fruit, pancakes, toast, cereal and yep, even cake!!
It was warm sitting on the balcony having breakfast so we knew we were in for a hot day. We headed out around 10 to stroll the old town, it is just divine, typical colonial style architecture, painted so beautifully in all sorts of different colors.
We enjoyed just walking around, although the rocky cobbles make walking a little difficult!!!
The heat soon got a bit much so we decided it was time for a cold beer, Pete had discovered a brewery that is by the river and we decided to go there. We enjoyed the beer, it was German in style and really tasty. We watched the world go by as people went about their daily lives by the river, including 2 dogs who were having a wonderful time!!
After lunch we took a bit more of a walk around and then headed back to the airbnb for a bit of a break. It cooled a bit around 4 so we went to the bus station to buy our tickets to Rio.
It gets quite dark early here, so we had happy hour in the old town before grabbing dinner. We'd seen a little restaurant during our walks and decided to try it out, the prices were really reasonable and the menu looked good!
Well, it was not the best choice, reasonable prices don't always equal good food, whilst it was edible there was no real flavour! Oh well, you can't win every time, after our fab meal last night, it was a let down!
Never mind, we just ended up getting an ice cream to ease our pain!!! Yum!!!
We had a great first day in Paraty and look forward to more chilled out time tomorrow!
