Iguazu Falls take 2......

So after the terrible rain we had when we visited the falls in Argentina we really hoped that we would get some sun for the Brazil side.

We woke early to have brekky, not that we really needed it after last nights huge dinner, but we heard the brekky at our hotel was good so of course we had to check it out!

Omg!! It was a crazy breakfast! They had cake, I'm talking birthday cake type cake, just crazy! Otherwise it had a lot of other normal brekky stuff, but yes, I did eat some cake!

Anyway, after breakfast we caught a local bus out to the falls, it took about 40 mins but was super cheap and easy, the bus station was right near our hotel.

Once we arrived we bought a ticket from the self service booth, paying by credit card (in Argentina you had to pay cash) and then we boarded a bus to get to the trail to the falls. The bus took around 10 mins.

I have to say it was super organised, way more so than the Argentina side, where we caught a little train, but had no idea when it was going to arrive and what the departure time was. The Brazil side is a lot more efficient.

Once we were off the bus, straight away we saw the panoramic view of the falls. The Brazil side gives you more of an overall view and I have to say, yes, it was sunny, so it was pretty god damn spectacular!!!!

We walked the trail fighting the crowds for the perfect photo spot and also watching out for the Coatis, a small animal that lives at the falls. They apparently can bite and try to eat your food, so we kept a distance.

We also noticed a lot more birds and heaps of butterflies, all the things we missed due to the rain the other day.

I have to say, for me, the Brazilian side wins. Whilst the trails on the other side are great, seeing the overall view and yes, maybe because it was sunny, it just gave such a better experience.

At the devils throat we walked out onto a platform which is super close to the waterfall, we got a little wet, but all good, we dried off in no time.

Once we reached the end of the trail we headed back to the bus. The overall visit was about 1:45, a lot shorter than the Argentina side.

After visiting the falls, across the road there is a bird park, we were dying to see a toucan and sure enough there were loads of them! It seriously made our day!! Possibly even the biggest highlight of the trip for me!

The bird park was fantastic, so many beautiful birds and very well looked after! We even saw some getting fed mice!

We spent about an hour or so at the park and then caught the bus back into town. A very easy day.

After last nights feast we decided on a smaller dinner and just visited a small restaurant next to the hotel. I had a burger! Yum!!!

We headed to bed early as we have an early morning flight to get to Rio where we catch a bus straight down to Paraty. Super excited!!!
