Bring on Paraty!!!

After a few days exploring the Falls it was time to catch our flight to Rio and then a bus down to Paraty.

Don't worry, we are returning to Rio, but for now, a few days in Paraty will be perfect for us to get more into the swing of Brazil!

Pete had done a lot of research and discovered Paraty, a small fishing village with a lovely colonial style old town.

Now for those of you who have read my blogs before, you know we love a small colonial town, so we were happy to go to any lengths to visit Paraty!

This meant a 6am flight from Foz de Iguacu, getting up at 3:30 to make the flight.
We got a taxi to the airport and arrived in time to drop our bags, lucky we had checked in online as the airport was super crowded!!

Our flight left on time and we landed in Rio right on time, great work GOL airlines!
From Rio airport we caught a bus to the main bus station, this was not super easy to work out, but we got on the bus and were at the bus station by 8:45. In time for the 9am bus, but first we had to buy tickets!

Hmmm, where is the ticket office, we found information who helped us but by the time we got to the ticket booth we just missed the 9am bus! Bummer! Next bus was not until 11!

Oh well, thank god for free wifi and coffee, we sat at the bus station and waited for the 11am bus.

Again we left right on time and what a windy road it was to Paraty!! We arrived at 3:20pm, glad to get off and stretch our legs.

The walk to the Airbnb was only 1km, not super easy as it is all cobbles, big rocks sort of like a river bed!

We checked in, our place is lovely and the staff super friendly! We are going to be happy here!!

After checking in and showering we headed out for a walk and of course a couple of beers. The town was very busy with lots of tourists, it is super pretty!!

For dinner we decided on Thai food, it's time for something other than local fare and. It was it a good choice. Great service and yummy food, red curry with prawns and pineapple and also a beef phad thai, superb!!

It was a big day so we were pretty tired. We will explore more tomorrow and just can't wait!!
