I was so excited to wake up knowing I was going for a run along the beach front in Rio!! Just being here is exciting but running was going to be a buzz!!
I headed off around 7am and went down to the beach, obligatory selfie by the beach and then off I went. I headed towards Leblon, the first thing I noticed of course were the amount of runners and people doing other fitness activities, just amazing!!!
It was warm so I took it pretty easy and ended up running 7.5km, the longest I've run whilst I've been away, but boy did I feel it, diet must commence when I get home!!!
I got back to the apartment bathed in sweat, had a shower and then we ate brekky at the apartment.
We headed out to walk the beaches and then for Pete his goal was to buy a football top, of course Brazil is a major footballing nation so he was keen to get a local jersey.
We walked heaps and despite trying a few shops did not have a lot of luck, we ended up out at the Botafago club shop where he got a great jersey and we also had really wonderful service, Brazilian people are very friendly!!!
As we were quite close to Sugarloaf mountain we decided we may as well do the cable car whilst we were there, we had walked a long way so figured we may as well make the trip to the top!
Well, we probably could not have chosen a worse time, by the time we got to the top it was clouded in and there was no view at all!! We were devastated to say the least!! Felt
likes big waste of time and money!!!
We made our way down feeling very disappointed! We decided to walk back to the apartment rather than take a metro, by the time we got back it was after 4 and we realized we had walked around 16km!! We were super tired!!!
For dinner we had seen a Mexican restaurant during the day, so decided to give that a go, it was a fab choice and we really enjoyed it!
After such a big day we were really sleepy, so had an early night!! Certainly no Rio partying for us!!!
