Visit to Alta Gracia

As we were in Cordova for 3 full days we decided to make the most of its great location and take a few day trips.

Day 1 had been Villa Carlos Paz, so for our last day in Córdoba we decided to visit Alta Gracia, a small town about an hour from Córdoba, home to a Jesuit monastery but more famously known as the town where Che Guevara grew up.

We caught the bus out to Alta Gracia, again, no issues catching the bus and very easy buy tickets etc, thanks to Pete's Spanish, not mine!

We arrived into town and headed to the monastery. Lucky we did as it closed at 1pm!

We took a look through the inside which is set up like a museum, housing lots of old furniture and interesting pieces that were found on the site over the year. I'm not going to pretend I learnt heaps about the Jesuits, as I'm not much of a history buff, but I enjoyed looking at the old building and seeing the artefacts.

From the monastery it was a bit of a walk to the museum which is housed in the former home of Che Guevara. The cost of entry was 150 peso, so around $13.50 Australian, not bad really. We received an English brochure so we could guid ourselves through the house and learn a bit about the life of Che.

I must admit, I've seen the iconic pictures of Che Guevara over the years, but did not know a lot about him, I came out of the museum feeling a lot more informed and with a greater understanding of this man & his freedom fighting ways. The museum was rally well set up, housing memorabilia from his childhood, details of his education and of course of his life as a revolutionary, definitely worth a visit!

From the museum we headed back into the town of Alta Gracia and took a few more snaps before deciding to head back to Córdoba for a late lunch.

It was 3pm but the time we got back and lunch in a cafe beckoned.

This of course led into evening drinks and then a late dinner at a small restaurant that served a variety of foods, but we selected tacos, which turned out to be different to what we expected but still quite nice.

We head off to Catamarca tomorrow (Thursday - I'm actually writing this in Catamarca, I'm just a bit behind). I'll post some pics when I can, internet signal is weak, so I'm hoping is post works! Until then, ciao Chicos!
