So in my last post I touched on how awesome the overnight bus was from Mendoza to Córdoba, well I'll give you a bit more of a run down.
Firstly the bus arrived about 15 mins prior to departure and an immaculately dressed hostess stepped off the bus to take our tickets.
We chose the back row when we bought our tickets, we had two seats together and the seats conveniently convert into a bed! I was excited beyond belief at how cool they were and then to find out the bus had wifi, I was in heaven!!
We were served a meal, crazy as we'd not long had our dinner, but we ate it all the same. It was quite nice, lasagna and some sandwiches. The funniest part was to ensure you did not spill your meal, we were all given big bins to wear, hilarious!
After dinner we settled down to sleep. I slept quite well although my back did get slightly sore.
The hostess woke us at around 5:45am for breakfast, we declined as were still full from last night!
The bus soon arrived in Córdoba and I would have to say, after all the overnight bus trips and trains trips I've done, this was the best experience.
From the bus station we made our way to the hotel but as it was so early we could not check in. Despite being desperate for a shower we decided to make the most of the day and took a small day trip to the town of Villa Carlos Paz. We managed to buy bus tickets with not too much difficulty and boarded a bus at 9:50am.
The trip took about an hour, and we arrived to a nice sunny day. Carlos Paz is a small
Lakeside town, popular for locals to retire and also popular for weekend trips. There is a pretty but somewhat green lake, an amusement park and a variety of activities you can participate in, like kayaking and paddle boats.
For us it was more of a case of getting out and about, we took a lovely stroll around the lake, stopping to enjoy the scenery and watch people going about their day.
After a couple of hours it was time to head back and check in to the hotel, we arrived back in Córdoba by 2.30pm.
Our hotel is nice and modern, very clean but reception staff are a little unpleasant, really the first time we've come across this on the trip, maybe he was having a bad day, it was Monday after all!
For the evening we grabbed some beers and pizza from a local restaurant where the waitress spoke perfect English and was most excited to find we were from Australia!
Overall we had a great day, tomorrow's excitement will be laundry!! Yippee!!
