Sunday was our last day in Mendoza and from there we would be traveling to Córdoba on an overnight bus.
Every time we decide to do overnight travel we look back in the decision with regret as in a way it sometimes feels like a wasted day and you have to hang around all day waiting for the bus!
But, given the beautiful weather in Mendoza and some unfinished business, we had plenty to do before catching our 10pm bus.
We slept late and ate a leisurely breakfast before heading into the city to take some photos of the parks and also take some money out. Sadly the ATM was empty!!!! Omg!! This happens often in Argentina apparently and I get free use of Citibank atms, so did not want to use another ATM as the fee they charge is equivalent to $10! So we decided we could make do with what we had.
We headed up to the park for a really good walk, burn off some of those empanadas and enjoy Sunday like the locals! The park was full of families and people out enjoying the sun, making most of what is an amazing park right in the city. The people of Mendoza seem to be into the great outdoors and are out running, rollerblading and biking. They also picnic in the park with tables & chairs, so nice to see!
Now, I mentioned unfinished business, yes, we decided we better try some of this amazing Argentinian steak we'd heard so much about. So for dinner we settled down for a 500g steak & chips to share, along with a morcilla sausage (blood sausage) and a salad, figured we better have some greens!
Well the steak was beyond what we could have imagined! So tasty! Mere words can not describe it!!! And all for the sum of $22, you'd never get such a huge steak at home for that price!!
Anyway, enough about steak, after dinner we headed back to the hotel to grab our stuff and off to the bus station to get our bus at 10pm.
I'll give you an update re the bus trip in tomorrow's blog, but let's just say, it was awesome!!!!
