Up early again, this time for a 7:45 bus, we walked to the station and the bus was a little late, but only 45 minutes this time.
We had front seats again and today's journey was a little shorter so it went by fairly quickly. We arrived into Tucuman just before 12, our first job was to buy bus tickets to get to Cafayate on Saturday. This is one bus trip we could not pre-book. In the line for tickets we met an English guy also heading the same way, but he was not staying in Tucuman, he seemed nice enough and we said we might catch him up at some stage.
After buying our tickets we walked to the hostel, about 1.5km, again, it was bloody hot!!
As we only had one night for this destination we had decided to be super cheap and stay in a hostel, we checked in, the room was pretty nice and we also got dinner as an added bonus for $1.80! Bargain!
In Tucuman there are a few sights but it was dead quiet due to being a public holiday, man, things are totally closed! We managed to find a cafe for a beer and sandwich, then a bit more sightseeing before heading back to the hostel to freshen up before dinner.
We were going to have beers at the hostel before dinner but the music playing at the hostel left a bit to be desired so we ventured back out and found another nice place to have a beer.
It also seemed there was a bit of a street march/parade due to the public holiday, so we got to enjoy a bit of drums being played, people dancing and walking on stilts, all very colorful!
Back at the hostel we had our dinner, pretty basic but for $1.80 you can not complain!
Thankfully when we headed to bed the music got turned off and we ended up having a pretty good sleep. I did get up to go to the loo in the night and had to walk through the common area, it was around 3:30am and the hostel people were still partying like mad! Man, I am really too old for this hostel stuff!!
