Santiago to Valparaiso day 2

After 2 nights in Santiago it was time to move on to our new destination, Valparaiso!

We had heard of Valparaiso (VP) and the grungy streets filled with murals and graffiti, so decided this would be a good place to visit.

An hour and half away by bus, we made use of the Santiago metro system to get to the bus station. We navigated this easily and promptly purchased 2 tickets to VP with the bus leaving in 5 minutes! Talk about great timing.

The bus ride was very comfortable and we hope this is a sign of things to come for the rest of the trip. We weaved through the countryside, taking in the scenic views, vineyards galore spread along the hillsides!

Once in VP we caught a taxi to our bed and breakfast which is situated on the hillside where graffiti adorns the walls.

After check in we took a stroll taking in some sights and sampling a delicious cheese empanada.

The afternoon crept on and the sun was warm so what better than to sit in the sun enjoying a beer or two looking over the ocean, spectacular!

Hunger soon got the best of us and we headed to a small restaurant for dinner, 3 course for $18, not too bad! The food was tasty, we both had fish served with a risotto.

After dinner we took a stroll meeting a local man who had a pet poodle and also meeting a local cat who was keen for a cuddle!! So cute!

A great day was had and we look forward to seeing more of VP tomorrow.
